What is the difference between Master Aesthetician and an Esthetician?
The skin care world is growing, changing, and advancing. How do you know if you are choosing the right skin care professional? Here are some differences between a Master Aesthetician and an Esthetician:
- First, A Master Aesthetician attends school longer-600 hours longer. During this time they are taught more advancements in skin care, gain more knowledge of the skin, and how to better treat the skin.
- In the State of Utah, only Master Aestheticians can perform chemical peels, microdermabrasion, microneedling, and dermaplaning. The reason for this is that Master Aestheticians are able to recognize the underlying problems and have a better understanding of how the skin heals and responds.
- A Master Aesthetician is normally found in a medical setting. Working with a doctor, the Master Aesthetician is able to help treat the skin with result driven products and procedures.
In essensce, Master Aestheticians are more advanced in their knowledge of skin, can perform many more cutting-edge treatments, and are able to work with a doctor to treat skin conditions.
More Details Below
Microneedling (also known as collagen induction therapy) is a medical grade treatment used to treat scarring, stretch marks, texture, pigmentation, and fine lines. This treatment uses a device with little needles that puncture the skin, creating a controlled wound. This then stimulates the collagen and elastin to produce again, giving the skin a more bright, plump, and tight appearance. Microneedling is recommended every month for six months to see maximum results. Topical anesthetic is used for your comfort.
Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure in which pigment is deposited into your skin in a hair like stroke pattern making the brows appear natural. This procedure is for those who don’t have any brows, half a brow, or brows that need to be filled in. It is a 2 step process, the first appointment then in 4-6 a touchup appointment. Yearly touchups are recommended to help keep the shape and color you desire.
Dermaplaning is a safe, painless treatment, gliding along the epidermis of the skin using a medical grade scalpel blade, to slough off any vellus hair and dead skin cells. As aging occurs, the cells in our skin that produce our collagen and elastin slow down. This is a great way to deeply clean and exfoliate the skin to keep you looking youthful and vibrant. It also removes vellus hair off the face. You will have a healthy looking glow to your skin, your pores will be clean, and your makeup will go on a lot smoother.
Microdermabrasion is a non-chemical, non-invasive procedure that uses a crystal suction to remove the outermost layer of dry, dead skin cells and reveal younger, healthier-looking skin. Microdermabrasion also encourages the production of a new underlying layer of skin cells with higher levels of collagen and elastin, which further improves your skin’s appearance.
A chemical peel is a treatment using an acid solution to remove the damaged outer layers of the skin. The peel goes into the skin and breaks up the keratin that holds the skin together creating a nice exfoliation.
The 60 minute facial is the most luxurious facial. It includes two masks that are specific to your skin condition and also includes either a hand and arm massage, foot and calf massage, or hot oil scalp massage.
Our 30 minute facial is for those busy bodies who do want to improve their skin. This facial includes a mask specific to your skin condition as well as a pressure point facial massage.
Lash lifts, also known as “lash perming” is a treatment that essentially “curls” your lashes and lasts up to 6 – 8 weeks. It is a quick, painless treatment that leads to beautiful natural results.
Brow and lash tinting is a color service that uses semi-permanent dye to enhance color, shape, and thickness. The benefits are immediate and the procedure time is minimal. Tinting lasts about 1.5- 2 weeks.
