Over the course of pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding, your body goes through a lot and can end up looking and feeling very different. Mothers who are unhappy with the look of their bodies after having children can benefit from a mommy makeover procedure with Dr. Bishop.
The mommy makeover is the name given to the customized combination of breast and body contouring procedures designed to reverse the effects that pregnancy and breastfeeding have taken on a mother’s figure. The intent of a mommy makeover is to reduce the appearance of common issues such as:
- Drooping or sagging of the breasts
- A loss of breast shape or volume
- Loose abdominal skin
- Fullness of the “lovehandles”
As you come in for your mommy makeover consultation with Dr. Bishop, he will listen to your expectations and analyze your body to come up with a personalized combination of procedures that will help achieve your goal look. Your mommy makeover will consist of two or more of the following procedures:

A loss of breast volume is very common for mothers especially after breastfeeding. Using breast implants, Dr. Bishop can help to restore a fuller shape and appearance of your breasts.
Stubborn fat often accumulates during pregnancy and can be difficult to get rid of afterwards. Liposuction helps to trim problem areas such as the hips and abdomen.
Your mommy makeover can be performed all at once as a safe combination procedure, or can be spread out as a series of separate surgeries. Many mothers often choose to have their surgeries performed as a combination in order to minimize time spent recovering. You will discuss your treatment plan with Dr. Bishop during your consultation.
When performed as a combination mommy makeover, you should expect to take at about 2-3 weeks off from work and about six weeks before full activity. Take it easy around the house and avoid any heavy chores. Your family and loved ones will be more than happy to help as you continue to heal from your surgery. For individual procedures, expect roughly one week off from work and 4-6 weeks of limited activity each.

“When I was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 2010 our decision was to have a mastectomy. My surgeon referred me to Dr. Jon Bishop. I was a little nervous, but my very first visit I knew I had made the right choice to have Dr. Bishop as my plastic surgeon. Immediately I felt at ease. My reconstruction surgery has went very well. My husband and I view Dr. Bishop and his staff not only as a wonderful team, but also wonderful and compassionate people. We now consider them all as good friends fighting for the same cause.” -Geri
