Mommy Makeover

Over the course of pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding, your body goes through a lot and can end up looking and feeling very different. Mothers who are unhappy with the look of their bodies after having children can benefit from a mommy makeover procedure with Dr. Bishop.

The mommy makeover is the name given to the customized combination of breast and body contouring procedures designed to reverse the effects that pregnancy and breastfeeding have taken on a mother’s figure. The intent of a mommy makeover is to reduce the appearance of common issues such as:

  • Drooping or sagging of the breasts
  • A loss of breast shape or volume
  • Loose abdominal skin
  • Fullness of the “lovehandles”

As you come in for your mommy makeover consultation with Dr. Bishop, he will listen to your expectations and analyze your body to come up with a personalized combination of procedures that will help achieve your goal look. Your mommy makeover will consist of two or more of the following procedures:

More Details Below

Breast Lift

Mothers who have experienced a loss of skin elasticity around their breasts will need a breast lift to restore a youthful position. A breast lift can help with sagging, drooping, or downward pointing nipples caused by pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Breast Augmentation

A loss of breast volume is very common for mothers especially after breastfeeding. Using breast implants, Dr. Bishop can help to restore a fuller shape and appearance of your breasts.

Tummy Tuck

Because your abdomen is stretched during pregnancy, the skin often lacks the elasticity to tighten back up after giving birth. A tummy tuck removes this excess skin and tissue while repairing the abdominal wall to achieve a flatter, smoother stomach

Stubborn fat often accumulates during pregnancy and can be difficult to get rid of afterwards. Liposuction helps to trim problem areas such as the hips and abdomen.

Your mommy makeover can be performed all at once as a safe combination procedure, or can be spread out as a series of separate surgeries. Many mothers often choose to have their surgeries performed as a combination in order to minimize time spent recovering. You will discuss your treatment plan with Dr. Bishop during your consultation.

Mommy Makeover Recovery

When performed as a combination mommy makeover, you should expect to take at about 2-3 weeks off from work and about six weeks before full activity. Take it easy around the house and avoid any heavy chores. Your family and loved ones will be more than happy to help as you continue to heal from your surgery. For individual procedures, expect roughly one week off from work and 4-6 weeks of limited activity each.

  • “I never would have considered plastic surgery until after I had my children. Afterwards, I wanted to feel as I did before my children. Dr. Bishop was one of the several plastic surgeons I consulted regarding my surgery. He was by far the most caring and concerned physician I had seen. He listened to what I wanted to accomplish from this surgery. The end result was more than I could have imagined. I feel wonderful. His staff was so friendly and accommodating. I felt so confident having him as my doctor. He is the only one I would refer to my friends and family.”
